Wendy Weidner and John Conover |
I haven’t posted in a while, mostly because I didn’t have any good news. My wife is from a big family in New York and her parents had a retirement place near a beach in Florida. They went down there every winter. When we visited the conversation often turned to who was sick and who had passed away. I remember thinking how I didn’t want to be like Joan’s parents when I got old, dwelling on bad news. Yet the end comes to us all, as it has to a couple of great people who were our classmates...
Last weekend Denny Groover left us. He was living in Oregon but was in Dana Point on Monday when he apparently stepped in front the train that runs along the cliffs and up to the mission. The Register printed this story a few days afterward. His high school friends are left wondering why. Our thoughts are with his family and the realization that depression can be worse than physical pain.
