Well, our high school class is having a celebration in the park, the 50^th class reunion. It’s funny they are calling it the 68/68 reunion, class of 68 and all mostly 68 years old (ain’t no lying about age there). They’re having a happening, a BBQ at Irvine Park on October 6, at site 2, from 10am to 4pm; hamburgers and hot dogs and all that goes with it, a raffle, music and comradery. And after a short dinner break we come back together at the Orange Elks for evening desert, music, memorabilia and prizes.  It costs $5.00 a car load to get into the park, the cost at the picnic is $25.00 per person and the cost at the Elks is $20.00 per person; both are paid at the events. And they want to keep it simple, so just bring good old cash.

 

Well that sounds pretty good. But I don’t know if there will be anybody there I might know. Didn’t run around with that big a crowd when I was in high school.

 

Hey, they just happen to have a list of who all is coming. Actually there are 4 events going on.

The 50th Reunion is Here!!

 

THE COUNTDOWN IS ON. T-30.

Our 50^th – the 68/68 - reunion is but days away now. If you haven’t already done so, let us know if you’re coming, how many and to which events. If you haven’t decided here is a recap of all that is planned:

Thursday: 5:00pm - meet in front of the auditorium for a guided tour of the old school; between 5:30 and 6:45 pm meet at Do Lunch deli at Civic Center and Flower, across from the bowl, before adjourning to the stadium for the home game against Calvary Chapel, which begins around 7pm. Admission about $5.00 per person. Parking at the stadium is $5.00 per car.

Friday: beginning at 6pm a meet and greet at Zito’s Pizza, 2036 N. Tustin St., Orange, on the corner of Tustin St. and Meats Ave., north of Katella. This is a buy your own affair.

Saturday picnic: Irvine Park, site 2, 10am till 4pm. Park entrance fee is $5.00 per car. There will be BBQ hamburgers and hotdogs with condiments, potato and macaroni salads, sodas and water; and, as always, side dishes are always welcome. And we want you musicians to bring your acoustic instruments for “jammin’ in the park”. Plus a raffle. The cost for the picnic is $25.00 per person, paid at the event.

Saturday evening: 7 to 12pm Elks club, 211 E. Chapman, Orange (the circle), hors d’oeuvres, dessert, drinks, door prizes and music. Musicians bring your electric instruments as there will be electricity. For details contact Brian Mann at mannmademusic@me.com. The cost is $20.00 per person, paid at the event.

Raffle tickets are $3 each or 2 for $5. The prizes include:

50th reunion

We are the people we were warned about: don’t trust anybody over 30; we have exceeded that twice over. We are the generation of JFK, the Beatles, RFK, MLK, Woodstock, Manson and Viet-Nam – Love is All You Need! We are parents, grandparents, and, in some cases, great-grandparents. We have survived teenage angst and middle age insecurity. We are the Class of 1968!

"68/68" Reunion update

CALENDARS ARE MARKED!! Only six months left and the reunion is here: Saturday, October 6, at Irvine Park, site 2.

A Splendid time is guaranteed for all.

Our 50^th, or as Danny has appropriately named it, our “68/68” (class of 68 and we’re all pretty much 68 years old), reunion includes a bbq of hamburgers and hot dogs, with sides provided by local classmates who volunteer, a raffle, and unplugged music. Time? Um, starts around 10 am and goes til about 4pm.

But wait, that’s not all. After a dinner interlude (see below) of 3 hours, at 7pm the reunion continues with the third event at the Elks Club in Orange (the circle, Glassell and Chapman) at 211 E. Chapman Ave., Orange. This event will contain cocktails and hors d’oevres (snacks, whatever), and last til around 12 midnight.

A Friday night event is also planned but not set yet. One suggestion, from our last reunion, is a meet-and-greet get-together at a venue like a pizza parlor with a capacity for a sizable crowd. Let us know what you think!!!

Our “68/68” reunion coincides with the annual All Saints Reunion Picnic located at site 3 for those who wish to visit classmates from other years. Of course, the attire is casual, why else would we come?!
